It’s that time of year again…time to buy your dog a new dog license.

According to Ohio Law, every dog over three months of age needs to have a current year dog license by January 31st. Dog licenses are $25 - After January 31st, the fee for a dog license goes up to $50. Also, if you fail to purchase your license by the deadline, you may be subject to a fine.
Is Your Dog Worthy of Being #1 in Lucas County?

Auditor Anita Lopez will award one lucky dog in Lucas County the honor of wearing the #1 dog tag for 2008. Enter to win by submitting an essay on Why My Dog is #1 from December 1 – 31, 2007. The winning dog will receive the #1 tag, a complementary 2008 tag, and their pet’s picture on 2009’s renewal form. Click here for more details.
Customs Dog Graduates

Recently "Trooper", a black male lab procured from the Lucas County Dog Warden, graduated from the Canine Enforcement Training Center. This handsome black lab came to the dog pound on April 9, 2004, as a stray dog roaming the streets.
Up-close Look at the Local Version of “Animal Cops”

Chris Leffel, 22, watches Animal Planet everyday. Pit Bulls and “dog catching” intrigue him. On Tuesday, March 23, he had the chance to get an up-close look at the local version of “animal cops” when he visited the Lucas County Dog Warden and met with Chief Dog Warden Tom Skeldon.
Lucas County Dog Warden and Staff Teach Kids at OLPH

The Lucas County Dog Warden and some of his staff recently participated in a career day at Our Lady of Perpetual Help school, teaching 7th and 8th graders about what a dog warden does to enforce laws and keep the community safe.
